After doing some research about subliminal messages, I decided to test them, and developed a small software that does this thing.
I’ve been exposed to this software for 3 days so far,( it is running constantly on my computer while I’m working) and probably I’ve experience already some changes. It is really hard to tell since it is my own project and what I experienced might be biased by my momentary enthusiasm.

Anyway if any of you would like to try it and share with me your results, feel free to contact me.

Cheers,
Researchers have demonstrated a striking method to reconstruct words, based on the brain waves of patients thinking of those words.
The technique reported in PLoS Biologyrelies on gathering electrical signals directly from patients’ brains.
Based on signals from listening patients, a computer model was used to reconstruct the sounds of words that patients were thinking of.
The method may in future help comatose and locked-in patients communicate.
Several approaches have in recent years suggested that scientists are closing in on methods to tap into our very thoughts; the current study achieved its result by implanting electrodes directly into a part of participants’ brains.
In a 2011 study, participants with electrodes in direct brain contact were able to move a cursor on a screen by simply thinking of vowel sounds.
A technique called functional magnetic resonance imaging to track blood flow in the brain has shown promise for identifying which words or ideas someone may be thinking about.
By studying patterns of blood flow related to particular images, Jack Gallant’s group at the University of California Berkeley showed in September that patterns can be used to guess images being thought of -recreating "movies in the mind".

Mindy McCumberFlorida Hospital
Now, Brian Pasley of the University of California, Berkeley and a team of colleagues have taken that "stimulus reconstruction" work one step further.
"This is inspired by a lot of Jack’s work," Dr Pasley said. "One question was… how far can we get in the auditory system by taking a very similar modelling approach?"
The team focused on an area of the brain called the superior temporal gyrus, or STG.
This broad region is not just part of the hearing apparatus but one of the "higher-order" brain regions that help us make linguistic sense of the sounds we hear.
The team monitored the STG brain waves of 15 patients who were undergoing surgery for epilepsy or tumours, while playing audio of a number of different speakers reciting words and sentences.
The trick is disentangling the chaos of electrical signals that the audio brought about in the patients’ STG regions.

To do that, the team employed a computer model that helped map out which parts of the brain were firing at what rate, when different frequencies of sound were played.
With the help of that model, when patients were presented with words to think about, the team was able to guess which word the participants had chosen.
They were even able to reconstruct some of the words, turning the brain waves they saw back into sound on the basis of what the computer model suggested those waves meant.
<img src="http://www.virtual-hypnosis.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/e81fb__58205067_58205065.jpg” border=”0″ alt=”" />The technique hinges on plotting brain activity across a number of frequencies
"There’s a two-pronged nature of this work – one is the basic science of how the brain does things," said Robert Knight of UC Berkeley, senior author of the study.
"From a prosthetic view, people who have speech disorders… could possibly have a prosthetic device when they can’t speak but they can imagine what they want to say," Prof Knight explained.
"The patients are giving us this data, so it’d be nice if we gave something back to them eventually."
The authors caution that the thought-translation idea is still to be vastly improved before such prosthetics become a reality.
But the benefits of such devices could be transformative, said Mindy McCumber, a speech-language pathologist at Florida Hospital in Orlando.
"As a therapist, I can see potential implications for the restoration of communication for a wide range of disorders," she told BBC News.
"The development of direct neuro-control over virtual or physical devices would revolutionise ‘augmentative and alternative communication’, and improve quality of life immensely for those who suffer from impaired communication skills or means."

Does anyone have some ideas about using cold reading as a tool for B2B sales prospection?

Here’s the context:

I’m into a new project for my company. I’m prospecting for new customers. This is Business To Business prospection, on pretty big ticket items (50K€), mostly directed to upper management of medium sized industrial companies.

Basically I’ve got a big list of phone numbers of companies who I phone up to try to sell them our products/services. I’m having a lot of fun doing this I must say.

The phone number is simply the companies public phone number, so first step is to speak a line which gets me from whoever answers (secretary) to someone in upper management (best is the big boss, and if not the financial director, commercial director, production director, …).

This step is working OK for now, I usually manage (after many tries and recalls) to get into contact with someone worth talking to.

Next step is tougher… I get a few minutes on the phone to explain what we do and to get the director interested so he accepts to meet me.

Until now I’ve set up a speech which cuts through from something pretty objectable (too expensive, we already have that, don’t have time for this, …) to something pretty much "to good to be true" and un-objectable…. with a graduate process. The idea is that they can often object to my initial proposals, but they basically can’t object to the last ones.

However, this isn’t working as good as I’d like… I think I need to have something that sounds more specific, my speech is too generic.

So, this lunch time at the café I suddenly though that what I needed was some super B2B phone "cold reading" capacities to be able to be specific about what my prospects’ problems are and what he’s looking for to fix them, only then can I formulate my offer in a pertinent and specific way (basically make sure that my offer sounds like the answers he expects to his problems).

This sounds pretty much like cold reading to me.

Any thoughts?

I’ve got some stuff for nerves I was just wondering if anyone had any good tips for making a good presentation and also preparing for it. For example I know the Disney strategy is in the Dilts book but i’m not quite sure how to use it for the preperation part. Any ideas?

What a great language pattern!
Haven’t you heard something "like this" many times about the profession you choose to work in?
Yes, I’m sure we all have. It IS unfortunate that, to this date, there are no FORMAL
scientific studies performed and evidence that is DOES WORK. I know Robert Dilts is accumulating resources and money to put together clinical trials for NLP. So until THAT day arrives, hopefully soon, we all have to wait and continue to hone are craft/profession.

The real question here is NOT whether it works or not, it’s DO YOU WORK IT?
It’s about CONFIDENCE in yourself becoming a competent trainer, KNWOLEDGE about what you’re communicating, and almost MOST importantly, MARKETING your services to your specific niche and/or community.

Can I ask you a question, WHAT marketing tactics, tips, & strategies are YOU using to promote your NLP, hypnosis or coaching business in todays (Jan. 2012) market? What could you share with everyone about what has worked best for YOU?

So here’s your question; what ONE piece of advice would you have given yourself IN THE BEGINNING knowing what you know now???

If you’d like to lend your thoughts or ideas about the true, pure NLP you originally learned,
I’d love to hear from you. We’re compiling a new book about the true nature of NLP.
What chapter titles should I include?
What should be the MAIN focus to teach beginngers?
What would make it EASY-IER to read?
What would YOU want to see it it? (visual question)
Any other ideas?

As we begin a new year often we have made promises to ourselves that this year we will start a fresh, make that change, and create a new life for ourselves.
In a time of change like no other it has never been easier to make changes and create new beginnings in our lives or businesses and yet we often face obstacles, lose the passion and give in.
This talk looks at the motivation killers so you can avoid them and introduces you to some hints and techniques on creating mind-set for motivation and uncovering your personal rules for success.
What can you do to keep up the passion, excitement and the focus so that new beginning becomes a new you, a new business or a new life?
Let’s make 2012 the year we make the biggest difference.

This meeting is open to anyone – you do not have to be NLP qualified.

We start at 7.30pm for networking, with the formal part of the evening starting at 8pm.

so when,in another forum on this website, a long time contributor to this website announced that they had written……….an NLP book. this brings yet another NLP book to the marketplace, a market already "saturated" with NLP books

NLP books certainly don’t make bestseller lists(at least now with any regularity), and I find it hard to believe that demand for this kind of book far exceeds supply. there cant be that much $$$$ in it.

and yet individuals continue to do it.

is it an overwhelming compelling desire to be published? or something else?
