NLP & Consciousness

Hey guys, I’m relatively new to the whole field of NLP. I have only really used it to help me [successfully] quit smoking, so I believe in the potential that NLP has.

I have [relatively] recently started to follow Buddhist philosophy, in particular, but spiritual philosophy in general, and have started to engage in basic meditation practices. From my limited engagement with both Spirituality and NLP, I believe that there are a number of potentially powerful synergies that could be explored.

From my limited perspective, I would say that NLP is effectivley a form of "spiritual" practice/exercise, as it is focused on the cultivation of certain mind states. It does however seem to focus on programming the subconsciuos mind, while some meditative practices are focused on simply becoming aware of habitaul mind tendencies, and cultivating a greater awareness of oneself, and one’s mind.

I was just wondering if there are any specific NLP exercises, that focus more on the cultivation of simple awareness of one’s mind and habitual behaviours, in a similar manner to mindfulness meditation?

Also, I was wondering if there are any NLP excercises focused on the development of such things as compassion?

Many thanks.
